WHAT'S IT ABOUT?

Get the practical experience to go with your theoretical understanding from the eLearning course. Under expert guidance, obtain practical experience in recording cannon using a variety of examples at the Royal Armouries Museum.

Please note, that to get the most out of this course, it is highly recommended that you complete the eLearning Cannon Recording and Research course.

WHO ARE THE TUTORS?
Kay Smith and Ruth Brown were curators at the Royal Armouries for decades and are now highly sought after historic ordnance consultants that assisted in creating the NAS eLearning course on cannon recording.

WHO'S IT FOR?
Anyone involved in the NAS Education Programme wishing to develop their practical skills. Professional archaeologists or avocational researchers who work on archaeological sites where they are likely to find cannons will find this practical training incredible useful.

NAS members will earn 5 credits per day towards their Certificate or Award.

COSTS:

NAS members £100
Non-NAS members £140 (although as NAS membership starts at £12, you're better off becoming a member and getting the discount rate immediately!)

09:30     Arrival and covid testing

10:00     Welcome and questions about the eLearning course

10:30     Tour of key guns in collection

12:00     Lunch    / looking at the exhibitions

13:00     Reminder of how to record a gun (demonstration)

13:30     Examination and recording of a gun (practical session)

14:15     Feedback on recording session

14:45     Recording a gun (practical session)

15.30     Getting involved with NAS, Feedback forms and certificates

16:00    Course End

REFUND POLICY
The NAS reserves the right to cancel courses or events 4 weeks in advance of a course if insufficient bookings have been received. Please do not book non-refundable travel and accommodation until you have been notified by email that the course is definitely going ahead.

Participants are permitted to cancel and receive a refund (minus the transaction fees incurred by the payment provider) up to four weeks in advance of a course  or event date. They are also able to defer their booking to any other NAS course or event instead of receiving a refund. If participants wish to cancel within the four weeks prior to the course or event, they will forfeit their booking fee unless there are circumstances which the NAS, in its absolute discretion, considers sufficiently mitigating as to warrant a partial or full refund.  

Applications for a refund within the four weeks prior to  the course or event must be submitted in writing (electronic submission is acceptable) and such evidence as the NAS may reasonably require must be provided to support the application.
