NAS Part III - Traditional Textile Manufacturing

This two day course forms part of the Ancient Technology Part III Module and is being run at the Ancient Technology Centre, Cranborne, Dorset.

Preservation on underwater sites means that the discovery of textiles is much more common than on terrestrial sites. By teaching about the methods for manufacturing textiles and putting the thoery into practice this course aims to increase your understanding and interpretation of these artefacts.

At the Ancient Technology Centre participants will have the opportunity to manufacture their own pieces of textile using traditional tools and methods. There will also be an opportunity to stay in either an Iron Age round house or in a Viking longhouse on the site

Trational Textiles Course Timetable

The course costs £165 (NAS members receive a 5% discount) and a maximum of 12 points will be available in the Ancient Technology Part III module.

Part III courses are open to everyone, however credit points will only be awarded to those who have completed the NAS Introduction Course
