Sound of Mull 2011 Underwater Archaeology Fieldschool
19th - 26th June
Thanks to support from Historic Scotland the NAS is once again joining forces with the Lochaline Dive Centre in order to offer a fieldwork opportunity in the Sound of Mull.
In 2011 work will continue on the site of the John Preston, in order to establish permanent control points on the site and to survey in remaining features. Some work will also be undertaken to establish permanent control points on the protected site of the Duart Point Wreck.
The fieldwork will provide additional project experience, aiming to increase participants skills working underwater, using techniques such as direct survey method, drawing and photography in order to record this site. The fieldwork will also offer excellent opportunities for those looking to undertake a NAS Part II survey project.
The Introduction course will be a pre-requisite for attending the fieldwork and for those who do not already have this qualification, a course can be offered on Saturday 18th June at the Lochaline Dive Centre for £50 per person.
The fieldschool will be run by Mary Harvey (NAS Training Manager) and Mark and Annabel Lawrence (Lochaline Dive Centre)
