NAS Part III - Numismatics

This is a two day course in the Research and IT Part III module. The course will be held in the oriental museum at Durham University and is taught by Craig Barclay.

The course aims to introduce participants some of the breadth and depth of information that coins can provide about an archaeological site. The course will look at both the history and development of coins and will also include practical exercises in coin identification and interpretation - never be taken in by a fake pound coin again!.

The course will consist of both practical and theoretical sessions in order to help meet the aims and objectives. A maximum of 12 credit points will be available in the Research and IT Part III module.
